Riverlight Labs (“we,” “our,” or “us”) builds and operates Ready Binder: IEP Prep (“Ready Binder,” “the app”), an organizational and educational tool that helps parents prepare for their child’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings. This Privacy Policy explains what information Ready Binder collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. Ready Binder is not a school, district, or government service, and we do not act on behalf of any school.
Information we collect
- Account information you provide at sign-up (display name, email address)
- Authentication identifiers from Apple, Google, or email-and-password sign-in
- Child profile fields you choose to enter (nickname, grade, primary needs, state)
- IEP documents you choose to import (camera scans, PDFs, image uploads) and the text extracted from them
- Meeting context you enter (school name, meeting type, date)
- Parent-authored content within the app: prep notes, meeting notes, question outcomes, debrief notes, follow-up email drafts
- App usage, diagnostics, and crash information
- Subscription status and entitlement information
Information we do not collect
- No microphone audio. Ready Binder’s Meeting Agent tracks notes and question outcomes only. Live audio transcription is a planned future feature and will require explicit consent.
- No precise location data.
- No contact list, calendar, or photo-library scanning. The app only reads photos or files you specifically pick.
- No advertising identifiers. Ready Binder does not run ads or share data with ad networks.
How information is used
- To operate, maintain, and improve the app
- To extract readable text from IEP documents you import, so the app can build a plain-English brief, suggested questions, and a change summary
- To sync your binder data across devices you sign in to with the same account
- To respond to support requests
- To confirm subscription access and prevent misuse of free usage limits
- To analyze app stability and performance
IEP documents and AI processing
When you import an IEP document, Ready Binder sends the document content to an AI service operated by Google to extract readable text and to generate the parent-facing brief, suggested questions, change summary, debrief, follow-up email draft, and assistant chat responses. The AI service processes content to fulfill your request and does not use it to train general AI models, per the terms of the Firebase AI Logic integration we use.
IEP document text, AI-generated content, and your binder edits are stored in our backend services (Firebase) and tied to your account. We recommend avoiding information you would not want stored with a U.S.-based cloud provider in any field you enter or document you import.
Children’s data
Ready Binder is intended for use by a parent or legal guardian. You enter information about your child on their behalf as their parent or guardian. Ready Binder is not directed at children under 13 as end-users, and we do not knowingly create accounts for children.
Child profile information (nickname, grade, primary needs, state) and the contents of imported IEP documents are stored under your parent account and accessible only to you and to authorized service providers acting on our behalf (described below). We do not sell child information and do not share it with the child’s school, district, or anyone else unless you choose to share an export yourself.
Third-party services
Ready Binder relies on these providers to operate the app. Each processes information according to its own privacy policy:
- Firebase (Google) — authentication, document storage, real-time sync, AI text extraction and generation, diagnostics
- RevenueCat — subscription entitlement management
- Apple — App Store purchases, Sign in with Apple, device services
- Google — Sign in with Google, AI models accessed through Firebase AI Logic
Data retention
We retain account information and binder content for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual children, individual documents, or your entire account from inside the app at any time. When you delete your account, your binder content is removed from active systems; copies may remain in encrypted backups for a limited period before being overwritten.
Your choices
- Edit or remove child profiles from Settings → Children
- Export your binder content from Account → Data Controls
- Delete your entire account and associated data from Account → Delete Account
- Manage subscription via the App Store / Play Store subscription settings
- Email riverlightlabs@gmail.com with privacy questions or data requests
Educational tool, not legal advice
Ready Binder helps parents organize, prepare, and follow up. AI-generated content (brief, questions, change summary, debrief, email drafts) is a starting point you should review before relying on it. Ready Binder does not provide legal advice and is not a substitute for advice from a special-education attorney or advocate. Procedural protections vary by state and over time.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
